What do Special Operations do in the Case of someone Surrendering?

UK SAS/SBS, American Berets/ SeALs what do they do if and when as person tries to surrender to them? On one hand it is against the rules of conduct to harm a person trying to surrender, on the other hand it is not practical to take POWs and still accomplish the mission.
